KUWAIT CITY, June 15: Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Kuwait Songchai Chaipatiyut said the relationship between Thailand and Kuwait serves as a model of strong bilateral ties founded on mutual respect and trust. Speaking during an open meeting with media representatives on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Kuwait, Ambassador Chaipatiyut pointed out that the two countries have been enjoying a close and sincere diplomatic relationship for decades through high-level dialogue and exchanges. He stated that bilateral relations are rooted in deep mutual respect between the leaders of both countries. “Thailand fondly remembers the visit of HH the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to Bangkok in June 2006 to attend celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of the accession to the throne of King Bhumibol Adulyadej,” he added.

He confirmed that the same mutual respect and trust continue to guide bilateral relations under the reign of King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklauchaewahua and the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. He asserted that “Thailand has long been a trusted destination for healthcare and medical treatment for Kuwaiti citizens, reflecting the high level of confidence Kuwaitis place in the Thai healthcare sector. Around six percent of Kuwaitis visited Thailand in 2025, benefiting from the cultural diversity, ‘halal’ cuisine, and numerous tourist attractions of the country. The hospitality sector in Thailand takes pride in welcoming Muslim tourists and providing them with a comfortable and welcoming environment.”

He also affirmed that “relations between our peoples show a strong human connection. While Thailand continues to welcome Kuwaiti citizens, Kuwait is home to about 1,080 Thai nationals who consider it their second home. This strengthens the friendship of the two countries and gives diplomatic relations a truly human dimension.” He emphasized that Thailand, as a trusted partner and friend of Kuwait, will continue to support and strengthen cooperation in a manner that contributes to the realization of Kuwait Vision 2035 and aligns with the shared goals of economic diversification and sustainable development.
