Kuwait Temporarily Closes Airspace, Diverts Flights as Precautionary Measure

KUWAIT CITY, Jun 11: The Directorate General Authority of Civil Aviation (DGCA) announced the temporary closure of Kuwait’s airspace starting at 4:50 a.m. on Thursday and the diversion of flights to alternative airports under approved contingency procedures. The move was taken as a precaution to safeguard air navigation and passenger safety amid escalating regional security concerns.

According to the authority, the decision follows what it described as Iranian attacks and the potential risks they may pose to civil aviation operations in the region. DGCA said it is closely monitoring developments in coordination with relevant authorities in Kuwait.

The authority added that Kuwaiti airspace will be reopened and normal air traffic resumed once the situation is deemed safe and all potential threats have been eliminated, based on assessments by the competent authorities.

Travelers and airlines have been advised to follow official updates issued by GACA and comply with all related instructions and guidance.
