KUWAIT CITY, Dec 10 (KUNA): The Kuwaiti speedboat team has set off for the United Arab Emirates to compete in the final round of the 2025 X CAT World Powerboat Championship at Sunset Beach, Jumeirah, from December 11-14.

Abdul Latif Al-Omani will lead the team aboard the boat Mouthir, assisted by Khalid Karam and Bader Al-Dosari, with coaches Mohamed Barakat and Adel Al-Misfer. The team is targeting a top-three finish following a strong performance in the previous round held in Kuwait last November.

Al-Omani had claimed second place in the first race of the previous round and was in contention for another top finish before a collision prevented him from completing the second race.

Currently, the UAE’s Victory team leads the world standings and is close to securing the championship, ahead of the British team. The boat Mouthir carries a special legacy, previously owned by the late Sheikh Khalid Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah, who tragically passed away during a 1997 Abu Dhabi race.

Ali Al-Shammari, Chairman of the Speedboats Committee at the Kuwaiti Marine Sports Club, thanked the Public Authority for Sports and the Marine Club’s Board of Directors for their support and expressed hope for a strong showing by Kuwait in this prestigious international event.
