AMMAN, Oct 12: Kuwait’s national volleyball team will face hosts Jordan today in its final preliminary-round match at the 24th Arab Men’s Volleyball Championship, aiming to end its campaign on a winning note. The match is scheduled for 6 pm at the Arena Hall, with the tournament concluding on October 15.
The Blues have endured a mixed campaign, losing their opening match 3-0 to Bahrain before falling 3-1 to Algeria and Oman. They bounced back in their fourth outing, however, beating Saudi Arabia 3-1 to secure their first victory of the competition.
Although Kuwait is no longer in contention for the title, it remains determined to finish as high as possible and keep its podium hopes alive. A second consecutive win would provide a timely boost and improve its final standing.
The team will seek to carry the momentum from its victory over Saudi Arabia into today’s difficult test against Jordan, who will have the advantage of playing on home soil in front of its supporters.
Kuwait’s coaching staff hopes for a positive tournament conclusion after a preparation programme that included an overseas training camp in Cairo. The team played several friendly matches during the camp to sharpen their technical performance and improve the players’ physical fitness ahead of the Arab championship.
