Kuwait takes third at AJP Tour Asia Jiu-Jitsu Championship

ABU DHABI, Sept 9 (KUNA):  Kuwait finished third in the overall country standings at the AJP Tour Asia Jiu-Jitsu Championship, held in Abu Dhabi from Sept. 4 to 6 with the participation of more than 2,000 athletes from 90 countries.

Speaking to KUNA on Wednesday, Kuwait Jiu-Jitsu Academy coach Ahmad Al-Rashed said the third-place finish reflected the significant progress made by Kuwaiti jiu-jitsu and the athletes’ ability to compete for top positions at continental and international championships.

He attributed the achievement to Kuwaiti coaches' continued efforts to prepare athletes technically and physically while promoting discipline, commitment, perseverance, and sportsmanship.

Al-Rashed said Kuwaiti athletes showed determination, perseverance, and a strong competitive spirit throughout the tournament, adding that their performance demonstrated the growing strength of jiu-jitsu in Kuwait.

He praised the support of the Kuwait Olympic Committee, represented by its Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Committee, for its efforts to develop the sport and provide athletes with the appropriate environment to achieve further success.

Kuwait accumulated 107,440 points to finish third in the overall country standings. The UAE topped the table with 568,100 points, followed by Brazil in second with 153,200 points.

The championship, held at Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi, featured competitions across various age groups and belt levels and attracted wide international participation.
