MANAMA, Aug 9: Kuwait’s U-17 national volleyball team faces Saudi Arabia at 5 p.m. today in its second match of the second Arab U-17 Volleyball Championship, currently being held in Bahrain and running until Aug. 17.
Three matches are scheduled today, with Kuwait meeting Saudi Arabia, Jordan playing Egypt, and Algeria facing hosts Bahrain.
Kuwait will look to build on its opening performance and secure a positive result that strengthens its hopes of reaching the semifinals.
The tournament features six teams — Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan and Algeria — competing in a single round-robin format. Each team will play five matches, with the top four advancing to the semifinals.
Kuwait began its preparations for the championship in early July with a series of domestic training sessions before traveling to Cairo for a training camp. During the camp, the team played four friendly matches as the coaching staff worked on improving the players’ technical and physical readiness, assessing different options and finalizing the lineup for the tournament.
The young Kuwait side will be aiming for consistent performances and positive results as it seeks to challenge for a place among the tournament’s top teams.
