Kuwait takes 2nd place in Hong Kong Wakeboard Open tourney

KUWAIT CITY, July 12, (KUNA): Kuwait national wakeboarding team, an affiliate of Kuwait Sea Sport Club, seized second place at the Nautique Wakefest and Hong Kong Open Wakeboard Championships 2016 held on July 9-10.

The Kuwaiti team to this tournament consisted of four players: Khaled Al-Awadi and Sheikha Al-nouri who played in the advanced divisions of “Men’s Outlaw” and “Women’s Open.” While the other two players competed in the “Junior” category.

Through a press statement by the Club, Kuwaiti rider Khaled Al-Awadi said that despite difficult circumstances surrounding the team’s participation yet they were able to do well in the championship.

He added that they were the only Arab and GCC team that participate in this event.

Wakeboarding is a surface water sport which involves riding a wakeboard over the surface of a body of water. It was developed from a combination of water skiing, snowboarding, and surfing techniques.
