KUWAIT CITY, May 17: Kuwait’s swimming team added four more medals, including two golds and a silver, to the host-nation’s tally as the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) games continued on Tuesday. Abbas Qali and his compatriot Saud Al-Shamrakh won a gold medal each in their respective categories, while the latter also picked up a silver in a separate contest.

A bronze was added to the home side’s medal haul when Abdulaziz Al-Thuwaihi finished third in the 400-meter contest, ahead of an action-packed day of swimming on Wednesday. The Kuwaiti swimmers vowed to give it their all as the games continue, saying they hoped to lift the national flag aloft in future competitions.

Meanwhile, Abdullah Al-Harbi won a bronze medal for host nation Kuwait on Tuesday, finishing third in the men’s 50-meter skeet shooting contest of the ongoing Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) games. Al-Harbi, who trailed Saudi Arabia’s Abdulaziz Al-Enezi and Oman’s Issam Al-Bloushi, spoke of the stiff competition the contest witnessed, saying he hoped to perform better as the games continue, (KUNA)
