Kuwait Suspends Freelance Business Licenses Pending Regulatory Review

KUWAIT CITY, Jul 28: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has temporarily stopped issuing new licenses for Single-Owner Business, commonly known as freelance business licenses, while it reviews and updates the rules governing this type of business activity.

The suspension applies only to new applicants who want to establish a freelance business. It does not affect people who already have valid licenses. Existing one-person companies can continue their operations normally, and their legal status, activities or licenses will not be changed during this review period.

According to informed sources, the ministry decided to pause new applications to reorganize the licensing process and ensure that regulations match the requirements of Kuwait’s current business environment.

The Ministry of Commerce is working on improving the system for issuing these licenses, especially because freelance businesses cover a wide range of economic activities.
