Kuwait summons Iraqi envoy over continued cross-border attacks

KUWAIT CITY, Mar 30: Kuwait on Monday summoned the Iraqi Embassy’s Chargé d'Affaires, Zaid Shanshul, to deliver a second protest note over continued attacks by armed groups originating from Iraqi territory, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Acting Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Aziz Al-Daihani said the incidents constitute aggression against Kuwait, a violation of its sovereignty, and a breach of international law and the UN Charter. He stressed Kuwait’s firm rejection of the attacks and urged the Iraqi government to take decisive action against those responsible, while affirming Kuwait’s right under Article 51 of the UN Charter to defend itself and take necessary measures to protect its security and territorial integrity.
