KUWAIT CITY, Mar 9: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait has summoned the ambassador of Iran for the second time to protest what it described as continued missile and drone attacks targeting Kuwait.

Acting Deputy Foreign Minister Aziz Rahim Al-Daihani called in the Iranian ambassador to Kuwait, Mohammad Tutunji, to deliver a formal protest note condemning the attacks, which Kuwait said constitute a flagrant violation of its sovereignty and airspace as well as a serious breach of the United Nations Charter and international law.

During the meeting, Al-Daihani reiterated Kuwait’s strong condemnation of all attacks launched by Iran on Kuwaiti territory, particularly those targeting vital civilian infrastructure and facilities. He stressed that attacks on civilian sites and densely populated urban areas are acts criminalized under international humanitarian law.

The official also affirmed Kuwait’s full right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, saying the country would take all necessary measures to protect its territory, citizens and residents.

The ministry further stressed that the security of member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council is indivisible, warning that any violation of the sovereignty of a GCC country represents a direct threat to collective regional security, while calling for an immediate halt to all hostile acts.
