AMMAN, Jordan, Oct 10:  Kuwait has been eliminated from contention for the title at the 24th Arab Men’s Volleyball Championship in Amman, Jordan, after suffering its third consecutive defeat in the preliminary round.

The Blues lost 3-1 to Oman on Saturday, following earlier defeats by Bahrain and Algeria. Kuwait opened its campaign with a straight-sets loss to Bahrain before going down 3-1 to Algeria, leaving the team with little chance of challenging for the title.

Kuwait will face Saudi Arabia at 4 pm today at the Arena Hall in Amman in the fourth round of the preliminary stage. The team will seek to bounce back with a positive result and improve its standing in the competition despite having fallen out of the title race.

The participating teams will take a break on Monday, with preliminary-round action resuming on Tuesday and Wednesday. Kuwait will wrap up this stage against hosts Jordan at 6 pm on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Kuwaiti referee Hussein Al-Tamimi has been selected to officiate at the Asian Beach Volleyball Championship, scheduled to take place in Doha, Qatar, from October 10 to 13.

His appointment marks the first time a Kuwaiti referee has officiated at an Asian beach volleyball championship, highlighting the growing presence of Kuwaiti refereeing talent at the continental level and the confidence placed in local officials at international competitions.
