Kuwait were edged to their first final-eight round defeat at the hands of Iran in the AHF Asian Men’s Handball Championship.

The hosts suffered a 24-28 loss in the game held at Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Hall Complex, which comes on the back of a first place finish after three wins from three fixtures in the preliminary group round.

The Iranians made a comeback in the second half after being down for much of the first half, exploiting a number of errors made by the home side.

Only the first and second-placed sides in the dual group stage will make it to the 2021 IHF World Men’s Handball Championship, due to be held in Egypt. (KUNA)
