KUWAIT CITY, June 24: The McDonalds team have proceeded to the next round following its match against Ministry of Electricity team which resulted in a goalless draw on the 18th day of the Late Abdullah Meshari Al-Rawdhan Ramadan Indoor Football Tournament.

The match was evenly balanced but it was clear that McDonalds was closing all options for their opponent team to score, which eventually lead to a draw and ensured their entry into the next round, as Ministry of Electricity team needed to win to avoid early elimination.

In the second match, Kuwait Steel defeated Al-Sahafi by 2-1 and came second in the group with seven points. However, they were knocked out of the tournament after Al-Midhmar, the surprise team of the first round, topped the group ahead of Kuwait Steel by defeating Kuwait Club for the Deaf through two goals which were scored by Falah Abdullah.

Meanwhile, Timas and Doctorna teams will open the second round today. The teams for the second match have not yet been identified.

Doctorna team continue to excel due to the exciting duo of Andrew and Raju who have imposed their presence in the matches of the first round by snatching two victories and a draw. However, Timas will not be an easy opponent to beat as they are driven by their desire to go far in the competition and have been performing strongly in the first round particularly with brilliant stars like Grillo and Fernando.

In the youth category, penalty shootout was the order of the day, as the Golden Boy team defeated Sulaibikhat team by 4-3 on penalties and the Late Sheikh Khalid Al-Yousef Al-Nasser team won by 2-0 on penalties against Quloaso Academy team.

Two matches are scheduled for today – Al-Malaki versus Barcelona and Barzouka Academy versus Eng. Abdulqadir Al-Hindi.

In addition, Kuwait national team player and Qadsiya Club player Fahad Al-Ansari affirmed that he is honored to be part of the Al-Rawdhan panel along with top sportsmen.

He stressed that the Late Abdullah Meshari Al-Rawdhan Ramadan Indoor Football Tournament has been gathering all sportsmen through its events and it continues to succeed year after year.

Al-Ansari added that the success of the tournament is due to the efforts of the organizing committee members, and wished them continuous success.
