AL AIN, UAE, Aug 24:  Kuwait’s Special Olympics equestrian team, representing Al-Tomooh Sports Club, is taking part in the Regional Equestrian Competition for the Special Olympics Middle East and North Africa, hosted by Special Olympics UAE in cooperation with the Regional Special Olympics. The tournament runs in Al Ain from today through August 28 with athletes from 11 Arab nations competing.

Head of the Kuwaiti delegation and Secretary-General of Al-Tomooh Club, Sediqa Al-Ansari, confirmed that the riders are well prepared after an intensive three-month training program. She emphasized the team’s determination to showcase their skills and build on Kuwait’s record of achievements in equestrian sports.

“Our riders have an impressive history of success,” said Al-Ansari. “Basma Al-Bosaili won three silver medals at the World Games in Berlin, while Abdullah Al-Ali captured two gold medals at the Special Olympics National Games in Egypt. I am confident they will continue to shine and proudly raise Kuwait’s flag.”

Al-Ansari noted that equestrian sports have been a growing focus in Kuwait, recognized for their role in developing the physical, psychological, and social skills of athletes with intellectual disabilities.

She extended her appreciation to the athletes, coaches, parents, the Public Authority for Sport, Special Olympics Kuwait, Al-Tomooh Club, and the Kuwait Equestrian Academy for their support. She also thanked Special Olympics UAE and the Regional Special Olympics for hosting the event.

The Kuwaiti delegation includes riders Abdullah Al-Ali, Basma Al-Bosaili, and Maryam Dhiab, accompanied by Coach Sarah Bouhamdi and trainer Mohammed Al-Kandari, under the leadership of Al-Ansari.
