KUWAIT CITY, Oct 6: Kuwait on Tuesday strongly condemned the Houthi militia’s continued attacks on Makkah and Madinah, calling them a provocation to Muslim sentiments and a dangerous escalation against Islamic sanctities. The Foreign Ministry said the strikes also hit Riyadh and other Saudi cities, as well as civilian and economic facilities and vessels in the Red Sea and Bab Al- Mandab Strait, warning they threaten regional security and maritime safety. It described the acts as “hostile and cowardly,” stressing they violate Saudi sovereignty and breach international law and international humanitarian law. Kuwait reaffirmed support for Yemen’s legitimate government and the country’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, praising Saudi Arabia’s sustained efforts since 2014 to back political settlement initiatives and its leadership of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen. The ministry urged the UN Security Council to implement its relevant resolutions, particularly 2216 and 2817, and reiterated full solidarity with Saudi Arabia, affirming support for all measures taken to safeguard its sovereignty, security and the safety of citizens and residents. “Saudi Arabia’s security is an integral part of Kuwait’s security and that of the GCC member states,” it said (KUNA)
