KUWAIT CITY, May 10: The Ministry of Interior announced that authorities had shut down an illegal food establishment operating from a private residence in the Capital Governorate after discovering spoiled and unfit food being sold to customers.
In a statement, the ministry said the operation was carried out on Sunday, May 10, 2026, by the Security Directorates Sector, represented by the Capital Governorate Support Department, in cooperation and coordination with the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition.
Authorities said the raid followed investigations and field monitoring that revealed the residence was being used as an unlicensed restaurant receiving customers and selling food without obtaining the required health permits from the authority.
During the inspection, officials found quantities of spoiled food deemed unfit for human consumption, prompting immediate legal action against those responsible. Several violations were recorded and the suspects were referred to the competent authorities for further legal procedures.
The ministry added that officers also discovered a warehouse containing prohibited “Tombac” substances, a type of smokeless tobacco product banned under local regulations. The individuals involved were referred to the relevant authorities after the necessary legal measures were taken.
The ministry stressed that security campaigns and inspection operations will continue in cooperation with relevant government agencies to monitor violations, protect public health and safety, and ensure strict enforcement of the law.
