KUWAIT CITY, May 3: Kuwait’s food safety authority has shut down a factory and destroyed more than 10 tonnes of spoiled food materials during an inspection campaign in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate.
The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition said its inspection teams, operating in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate, ordered the closure of a violating factory after discovering large quantities of expired and unfit vegetables intended for human consumption.
According to the authority, a total of 10,071 kilograms of spoiled vegetables were seized and destroyed on site. Inspectors also issued six violations, including the sale of spoiled food items, poor hygiene practices, operating without a valid licence, and employing workers without valid health certificates.
The authority stressed that its field campaigns will continue across the country, adding that strict legal measures will be taken against any establishments that fail to comply with food safety regulations. It reaffirmed that such actions are aimed at safeguarding public health and ensuring consumer protection.
