KUWAIT, March 19, (Agencies): Kuwait’s Public Authority for Food and Nutrition said Thursday a joint emergency team closed down a violating restaurant and fish market and destroyed contaminated food during an inspection campaign. The authority said the campaign in Al-Asimah Governorate found the restaurant offering contaminated food and 127 kilograms of meat of unknown origin, which were confiscated and destroyed, and the outlet was closed. It added the team, comprised of the authority as well as Commerce and Interior Ministries, also seized a fish market offering fish unfit for human consumption, with legal action taken against violators.
The authority affirmed continued inspections to protect consumers’ health and urged compliance with approved health regulations.
Meanwhile, the Hawally Governorate Inspection Department of Public Authority for Food and Nutrition (PAFN) closed five food establishments as part of its ongoing efforts to ensure food safety and protect consumer health, reports Al- Seyassah daily.
In a press statement, PAFN explained that the establishments were found violating regulations, including selling spoiled food unfit for human consumption, selling adulterated food, and thawing frozen meat for sale as fresh. These establishments failed to comply with general hygiene standards and operational regulations. PAFN emphasized that inspection and monitoring campaigns are continuing in various governorates to ensure adherence to health requirements and maintain food safety in the markets
