Kuwait Shuts Down Cigarette Shop Selling to Minors, Health Facility Over Violations

KUWAIT CITY, July 23: Kuwait’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, has taken action against commercial establishments found violating regulations, including a shop selling cigarettes to customers under the legal age of 21.

The ministry said emergency teams from Al Ahmadi and Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorates coordinated with the Juvenile Protection Department of the Ministry of Interior to inspect a commercial establishment that was caught selling cigarettes to underage consumers.

The violator was caught red-handed during the sale, which breached laws regulating the sale of tobacco products. Authorities immediately shut down the establishment and initiated the required legal procedures.

In a separate operation, emergency teams from Al Jahra and Al Farwaniyah Governorates, working with the Ministry of Interior, closed a health institute after detecting violations of ministerial decisions, including a ban on cash transactions for certain activities.

Authorities also identified additional violations linked to the facility and took legal action against those responsible.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry emphasized that inspections will continue in coordination with relevant government agencies to ensure compliance with Kuwait’s commercial regulations and protect consumers.
