KUWAIT CITY, May 24: Inspection teams from the Capital Governorate, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Hawally Governorate Investigations Team, carried out a crackdown on commercial establishments involved in the possession, display, and sale of counterfeit products bearing internationally recognized trademarks.

Authorities said the violations were committed with the intent to promote and sell fake branded goods, in breach of laws regulating intellectual property rights and trademark protection. Officials noted that such practices not only harm the rights of trademark-owning companies but also negatively affect Kuwait’s reputation and international standing in efforts to combat counterfeit trade and protect intellectual property rights.

During the operation, officials confiscated the counterfeit items and immediately shut down eight stores found to be in violation. Legal seizure reports were filed against the establishments, and the necessary legal procedures have been initiated.

In a separate inspection campaign, the monitoring team of Farwaniya Governorate conducted field inspections on several commercial establishments across the governorate. The campaign resulted in the closure of a herbal products store after inspectors discovered expired items being sold to consumers.

Authorities said inspection campaigns will continue across the country to ensure compliance with commercial regulations and protect consumer safety.
