HANGZHOU, China, Oct 1: Kuwait's national shooting team continued to excel at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, adding two more silver medals to their impressive tally. With these new additions, Kuwait's medal count now stands at five, consisting of one gold, three silvers, and a bronze. Talal Al-Rashidi, a champion in his own right, secured the silver medal in the individual trap competition. His remarkable performance saw him hitting an impressive 45 out of 50 plates during the final stage. Unfortunately, his teammate Khaled Al-Mudhaf finished in sixth place, hitting 21 out of 25 plates, while Abdul Rahman Al-Faihan was unable to advance to the final due to the tournament's rule that restricts participation to a maximum of two players from the same country.


Kuwait's national shooting team, represented by Khaled Al-Mudhaf, Talal Al-Rashidi and Abdul-Rahman Al-Faihan, also clinched the silver medal in the team trap competition, amassing a total score of 359 out of 375.


In the women's shooting competition, Shahad Al-Hawal competed valiantly but ultimately finished in fifth place in the final, ranking 21st out of 30 overall. Her fellow shooters, Sarah Al-Hawal and Hajar Abdul-Malik, were eliminated during the qualifying stage.


Talal Al-Rashidi, expressing his joy over the achievement of winning silver medals in both the individual and team trap competitions, dedicated his victories to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad, the Prime Minister, and the people of Kuwait.
Meanwhile, the national handball team faced their first loss in the tournament against the Bahraini team, with a score of 25-34. Despite this setback, they secured a spot in the semi-finals, where they will face the top-ranked Qatar team.


On the track, Yaqoub Al-Youha advanced to the final of the 110-meter hurdles race by securing first place in the qualifiers with a time of 13.69 seconds. Madawi Al-Shammari, competing in the 200-meter race qualifiers, finished fourth, setting a new season record with a time of 23.83 seconds.


In individual squash competitions, Abdullah Al-Muzain and Ammar Al-Tamimi advanced to the round of 16 by defeating their opponents, while in archery, the national team concluded their participation in the Olympic bow qualifiers.


Fatima Hayat, a member of the Kuwait Olympic Committee and the delegation director at the Asian Games, expressed her satisfaction with the technical prowess demonstrated by the national handball team, highlighting their remarkable journey to the semi-finals. She commended the team's performance against formidable opponents and recognized the potential of young talents within the Blue Hand team, emphasizing their promising future. Hayat affirmed the team's continued support and special preparations for the upcoming crucial stages of the competition. She also applauded the achievements of Kuwait's national shooting team, who have added to Kuwait's medal count with their exceptional performances.
