Kuwait Shooting Federation honors champions, highlights excellence in recent competitions

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 1: Duaij Al-Otaibi, President of the Kuwaiti and Arab Shooting Federation, praised the outstanding performances of Kuwait’s male and female shooters, noting that their recent successes in international competitions reflect the strength and excellence of Kuwaiti shooting on the global, continental, and regional stage.

The Federation held a ceremony to honor the national team’s achievements, celebrating seven medals at the Asian Shotgun Championship in Qatar (January 2026), nine medals at the Arab Pistol and Rifle Championship in Oman (December 2025), and four medals at the West Asia Archery Championship in Qatar (November 2025).

Al-Otaibi emphasized that these accomplishments are the result of continuous support from Kuwait’s political leadership and dedicated the victories to the leadership, the Kuwaiti people, and all members of the shooting community. He also commended the shooters for their dedication, discipline, and professionalism, which helped raise Kuwait’s flag at these prestigious competitions.

Looking ahead, Al-Otaibi stated that the Federation aims to prepare its shooters to secure as many qualifying spots as possible for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, expressing confidence in their ability to succeed. He also acknowledged the support of Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, officials from the Public Authority for Sports, and Kuwait Olympic Committee President Sheikh Fahad Nasser Al-Sabah.

Speaking at the event, Mohammed Al-Dihani, gold medalist in the individual skeet event and silver medalist in the team competition at the Asian Shotgun Championship, expressed his gratitude for the recognition. He credited his success to his hard work and the guidance of the technical and administrative staff. He described the honor as a motivation for all Kuwaiti shooters to achieve further victories in future competitions.

The ceremony was attended by Obaid Al-Asimi, Secretary-General of the Kuwaiti Shooting Federation, several board members, the honored athletes and their families, and numerous media representatives.
