Officials pose with a 'future star'

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 28: Kuwait Shooting Sports Club President Duaij Al-Otaibi emphasized that the strong backing from Kuwait's political leadership has been pivotal in the club’s numerous achievements.

In a statement to journalists following the conclusion of the Summer Shooting Championship for the Distinguished, held in collaboration with the Public Authority for Sports, Al-Otaibi highlighted the significance of the event in identifying promising talents in pistol, rifle shooting, and Olympic archery. He referred to these young athletes as the future of Kuwaiti shooting.

Speaking at the club’s headquarters in the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex, Al-Otaibi noted that the championship, which saw the participation of about 70 promising young male and female shooters over three days, was the culmination of an extensive summer training camp that had attracted significant interest.

He expressed his gratitude for the strong collaboration between the club and the Public Authority for Sports, which made it possible for a large number of young participants to engage in this event. He also praised the efforts of all coaches and organizers from both the club and the Authority, whose hard work contributed to the success of the championship.

Al-Otaibi further mentioned that the club has already started preparations for the 2024/2025 sports season, which will kick off with the His Highness the Crown Prince Shooting Championship. This will be followed by a series of local championships, culminating in the prestigious His Highness the Amir International Grand Shooting Championship, the most significant annual event in Kuwaiti shooting.

He also highlighted that the Kuwaiti national team shooters are gearing up for several major international, continental, and regional events. Notably, shooter Muhammad Al-Daihani has been selected among the top 12 shooters to compete in the World Champions Final Championship in Skeet shooting, scheduled to be held in India this October.

Deputy Director General of the Public Authority for Sports, Hamid Al-Hazeem, added that the Authority’s support for this event aligns with its goal of promoting non-competitive community sports among the public, especially the youth, and encouraging children to engage in sports due to its numerous benefits.
