Kuwait shivers as cold lingers Wednesday
Kuwait skyline gleams under a crisp winter Sunday, with the city’s skyscrapers standing tall against cloudy skies

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 4: Acting Director of the Meteorological Department Dhirar Al-Ali forecasted that a cold, dry air mass will affect the country starting Sunday. This is expected to bring lower night-time temperatures, with frost in some agricultural and desert areas until Wednesday. Al-Ali explained to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that weather models indicate the country is under the influence of a high-pressure system, which is accompanied by cold, dry air. He said moderate to brisk northwesterly winds are also anticipated, especially in coastal areas during the day. He added wind speeds are predicted to decrease gradually, becoming light to moderate during the night in the following days. “Temperatures will drop to as low as three degrees Celsius, particularly in desert areas. During this cold spell, maximum temperatures are expected to range from 14 to 17 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures will be between one and five degrees Celsius. Overall, the weather will be cool to cold during the day and cold to very cold at night. A slight, gradual temperature increase is expected to start on Thursday,” he explained.(KUNA)
