KUWAIT CITY, Nov 12: The Public Prosecution announced that the legal period for implementing court rulings in Kuwait has been set at three months from the date of notification of the enforcement notice, in accordance with the provisions of Decree-Law No. (87) of 2025. The new legislation amends Article (58 bis) of Law No. (31) of 1970, which modifies certain provisions of the Penal Code.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday, the Public Prosecution explained that the three-month period provides adequate time for the competent authorities to take the necessary measures to enforce judgments issued by the courts.
The Public Prosecution affirmed its full confidence in the commitment of state authorities, institutions, and individuals to respect and implement court rulings within the prescribed timeframe. It further stressed that any failure to implement or deliberate delay beyond the legal period constitutes a criminal offense punishable under the law. This measure aims to uphold the authority of court decisions and safeguard the rights of litigants.
The statement emphasized that the Public Prosecution will take all necessary accountability measures against anyone found to have intentionally neglected or refused to implement final rulings after the expiry of the legal period.
It also urged all concerned parties to adhere sincerely and responsibly to the provisions of court judgments, underscoring that implementing rulings is not a discretionary act but a fundamental duty mandated by the rule of law. The statement concluded that such adherence reflects respect for the Constitution and reinforces the independence of the judiciary — the cornerstone of rights and the refuge of justice.
