Kuwait selects 25 players for the Arab Volleyball Championship in Jordan

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 3: Kuwait selected a 25-player squad for the Arab Men’s Volleyball Championship in Jordan from October 5 to 15.

The squad, chosen by Argentine head coach Julian Alvarez and his coaching staff, includes Abdulnasser Al-Anzi, Abdullah Al-Anzi, Abdullah Al-Muwainea, Abdullah Bouftain, Abdullah Al-Mulla, Nasser Dashti, Fahad Saad, Rashid Anbar, Ali Saadoun, Saud Al-Duwaisan, Talal Al-Salman, Mohammed Al-Dhafiri, Ahmed Al-Munees, Hussein Al-Masri, Khaled Bouarki, Bader Al-Attar, Fares Al-Sarraj, Barak Al-Anzi, Abdulrahman Al-Hashmi, Hassan Al-Qattan, Abdulrahman Al-Mutawa, Nawaf Al-Sanea, Abdulaziz Najm, Omar Al-Anzi and Ibrahim Mandeel.

The selection is part of Kuwait’s preparations for the Arab championship, with the coaching staff stepping up their work to raise the players’ technical and physical readiness before the tournament.

Sulaibikhat’s first volleyball team will travel to Cairo tomorrow for an overseas training camp ahead of the 2026-27 season. The camp will run until September 17 and includes four friendly matches.

The coaching staff will use the camp to improve the team’s fitness and technical level while building cohesion, particularly following the arrival of several new players.

The delegation, headed by Salem Mutaib, includes Egyptian head coach Ahmed Refaat, Tunisian coach Niaz Salam, and 20 players. The squad features Ghanaian professional Ibrahima and Cuban professional Yacel.

Recent recruits include Mubarak Abdulhadi, Nasser Dashti, Abdulrazzaq Al-Loughani, Youssef Kabed, Abdulrahman Al-Mutawa, and Faisal Muhareb. Abdullah Gholoum has also joined on loan from Al-Qadsia.

The camp will allow the coaching staff to assess the squad and integrate the new arrivals and foreign professionals before the start of the season.

Sulaibikhat Secretary-General Nasser Mansi Al-Anzi said the Cairo camp was a crucial part of the team’s preparations and stressed the club’s ambition to challenge for domestic honors and secure a place on the podium.

He said the team had made significant progress and that the addition of Cuban and Ghanaian professionals, together with experienced Kuwaiti players, had strengthened the squad.

“The camp is an ideal opportunity to improve the players’ technical and physical levels and develop greater understanding between the new and existing players,” Al-Anzi said, expressing hope that the team would benefit fully from the training program and four friendly matches.

He stressed that Sulaibikhat has ambitious targets for the new season and wants to build on its progress by competing strongly and fighting for a place among the top teams.

Al-Anzi also praised the club’s board for its support and for providing the team with the necessary resources. He commended the technical and administrative staff and players for their efforts during the local preparations and overseas camp, expressing hope that their work would translate into results that meet the club’s ambitions and supporters’ expectations.
