KUWAIT CITY, Jul 21: Kuwait authorities have seized large quantities of expired consumer products and tobacco from a warehouse in the Capital Governorate as part of an operation targeting commercial fraud.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry said the raid was carried out by the Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Department following monitoring and surveillance by inspection teams.
Officials confiscated around 1,500 packages of expired cosmetics and detergents, along with 1.32 tonnes of "molasses" tobacco, which had allegedly been stored for sale and distribution in local markets.
Authorities said the products were being kept in violation of Article 2 of Law No. 20 of 2019, which implements the GCC Unified Law on Combating Commercial Fraud.
The seized goods were confiscated, and an official violation report was filed. Legal procedures against the violator are underway.
