KUWAIT CITY, May 12: Kuwait Customs’ targeting team has foiled two attempts to smuggle narcotics into the country through incoming mail shipments originating from the United Kingdom, after suspicious parcels were intercepted and found to contain illegal substances concealed under false declarations.
The General Administration of Customs said the first shipment was falsely declared as “wax,” but inspection revealed four containers of a clear liquid. Forensic analysis by the General Department of Criminal Evidence confirmed the substance contained derivatives of a chemical narcotic, with a total weight of around 2.4 kilograms.
In a second case, a parcel labeled as “wash” was found to contain two bottles of clear liquid. Laboratory tests confirmed the presence of narcotic chemical derivatives weighing approximately 2.2 kilograms. Authorities coordinated with the Customs Investigation and Research Office to take legal action and seize the shipments.
Customs officials affirmed that inspection teams will continue tightening control over incoming parcels and intensifying efforts to combat smuggling attempts in coordination with relevant security agencies.
