KUWAIT CITY, Nov 8: The Ministry of Interior, represented by the Criminal Security Sector's Hawalli Governorate Investigation Department, has seized illegal warehouses operating in the basement of a property in Salmiya and arrested suspects of Indian nationality as part of ongoing efforts to combat commercial fraud and other violations.

The operation was carried out in cooperation with a joint committee comprising representatives from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Kuwait Municipality, the Ministry of Electricity and Water, and the General Fire Force.

Authorities said the inspection found that the basement had been divided into several warehouses that were allegedly being rented out without formal lease agreements.

During the inspection, officials discovered counterfeit goods in one warehouse, while two other warehouses contained water pumps and electrical appliances with allegedly altered country-of-origin information.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry issued violations in connection with the offences detected during the operation. Meanwhile, the General Fire Force ordered the closure and sealing of the illegal warehouses.

The suspects were referred to the competent authorities for the necessary legal action and are expected to face deportation proceedings in the public interest.

The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its continued coordination with relevant government authorities to monitor violations, confront illegal commercial practices and take the necessary measures against those responsible.
