Kuwait Seizes 608,000 kg of Spoiled Vegetables and Fruits, Shuts 3 Shops in Shuwaikh

KUWAIT CITY, Jun 10: Kuwait authorities have seized more than 608,000 kilograms of unfit vegetables and fruits during a large-scale inspection campaign in the Shuwaikh Industrial Area, officials confirmed.

The Inspection Department of the Capital Governorate under the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition carried out the operation in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Capital Governorate Security Directorate and the Security and Guards Department.

During the campaign, inspectors discovered a warehouse storing and displaying spoiled produce that was deemed unfit for human consumption. Authorities confiscated a total of 608,640 kilograms of rotten vegetables and fruits.

Officials said legal measures were immediately taken against the violators involved in the case.

In addition, three shops were ordered to shut down for failing to comply with approved health and safety regulations.

Authorities stressed that such inspection campaigns will continue as part of ongoing efforts to protect public health, ensure food safety standards, and prevent the circulation of unsafe products in local markets.
