Kuwait Seizes 411 Unlicensed Products, 3,500 Fake Brand Labels in Warehouse Raid

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 3: Inspection teams in the Capital Governorate have seized hundreds of unlicensed cosmetic products and medical creams after uncovering a warehouse where workers were allegedly altering product labels and expiration dates in violation of commercial fraud laws.

The operation followed monitoring and surveillance carried out by inspection authorities, leading to the discovery of a warehouse containing 411 unlicensed cosmetic products and medical creams, along with 3,500 labels.

Authorities said workers at the warehouse were replacing product labels, including information relating to the product type and expiration dates, in an apparent attempt to mislead consumers.

The violations were found to be in breach of Article 2 (Paragraph 2) of Law No. 20 of 2019, which introduced the Unified GCC Law on Combating Commercial Fraud.

A violation report was issued against the warehouse, and legal procedures have been initiated against those responsible.

Officials reiterated their commitment to intensifying inspection campaigns to combat commercial fraud, protect consumers and ensure that products offered in the market comply with health and safety regulations.
