KUWAIT CITY, Aug 24: The Criminal Security Sector, represented by the General Department of Narcotics Control, has seized 34 kilograms of narcotics, 10,000 Lyrica capsules, as well as unlicensed firearms and ammunition, during a security operation in the Al-Oyoun area of Jahra Governorate.

The operation resulted in the arrest of Mardhi Sayer Majhoul Al-Shammari, a stateless (Bedoun) and unemployed, who was found in possession of the contraband. He had been storing the items inside a vehicle used as a secret warehouse.

On interrogation, Al-Shammari confessed and named his partner, Ahmad Hussein Qate’ Jabr Roumi, a stateless (Bedoun) inmate at the Central Prison. Roumi was summoned and admitted to his involvement in the possession of the seized materials with the intent of trafficking.

Seized items included:

  • 30 kg of chemical substance
  • 3 kg of meth (shabu)
  • 1 kg of hashish
  • 10,000 Lyrica capsules
  • 2 unlicensed firearms and ammunition
  • 2 precision scales

The Ministry of Interior said the operation reflects its firm stance against narcotics trafficking and promotion, stressing that anti-narcotics officers will not tolerate any attempt to undermine the country’s security or threaten the health and safety of citizens and residents.
