KUWAIT CITY, July 4: In a concerted effort to enhance traffic and security measures, the Traffic and Operations Sector, under the supervision of Major General Yousef Al-Khudda, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Traffic and Operations Affairs, has ramped up security and traffic campaigns across all governorates. These initiatives, executed by the General Traffic Department over the past week, have yielded significant results.

The campaigns led to the issuance of 64,000 traffic violations, the arrest of 49 reckless drivers, and the impounding of 112 vehicles and 421 motorcycles. Additionally, 28 juveniles were referred to the Juvenile Prosecution Office for driving without licenses.

Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Bu Hassan, Head of the Public Relations and Awareness Department at the General Traffic Department, highlighted the extensive scope of these operations. "Patrols from traffic departments across the six governorates, along with those from the traffic operations and investigations departments, conducted several campaigns last week. This resulted in 50,720 various violations, the arrest of 28 minors driving without licenses, and the impounding of 87 vehicles and 421 motorcycles," he stated.

Moreover, the General Traffic Department responded to 1,500 accidents last week, including 230 accidents with injuries and 1,270 collisions. The department handled 3,127 reports, referring 17 wanted individuals for various offenses, and seizing 93 vehicles sought by security and judicial authorities. The patrols also dealt with five drug and alcohol cases, ten individuals without identification, five people in abnormal conditions, and three street vendors.

In addition to these traffic operations, the General Department of Emergency Police conducted numerous field security campaigns and security deployments across various governorates. These efforts resulted in the arrest of 13 individuals wanted by security and judicial authorities, including 12 with outstanding prison sentences. The emergency police also apprehended 30 individuals with arrest warrants, and eight expatriates with absenteeism cases, and issued 14,024 traffic violations, including 105 for parking in spaces designated for people with special needs. Furthermore, 25 vehicles were impounded, and 104 wanted vehicles were seized.

The emergency patrols referred 28 individuals to the General Department for Combating Narcotics after discovering narcotics and drug abuse materials in their possession. Additionally, 24 individuals were arrested for drunkenness, and nine cases of possession of intoxicating substances were recorded.

The emergency police patrols managed 117 reported accidents, including a run-over incident, two theft reports, 15 fight reports, 24 reports of suspicious activity, 43 fire reports, and eight death reports. They also provided assistance in 285 incidents reported to the Ministry of Interior's operations room, recorded 472 proof of cases, and arrested five individuals without residency permits.

These comprehensive efforts underscore the commitment of the Traffic and Operations Sector to maintaining safety and order on the nation's roads and within its communities.
