Kuwait seeks wider cooperation with the Asian Handball Federation chief

Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Tareq Al-Jalahma holds talks with Asian Handball Federation President Bader Dhiyab on prospects for cooperation.

KUWAIT CITY, June 22 (KUNA): Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Tareq Al-Jalahma held talks on Monday with President of the Asian Handball Federation Bader Dhiyab on prospects for enhancing cooperation and strengthening partnership in areas of mutual sporting interest.

The discussions focused on supporting the development of handball at both the national and continental levels.

Al-Jalahma told KUNA that the Ministry of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, along with the Public Authority for Sport, is keen to deepen cooperation with the Asian Handball Federation and benefit from its expertise and development programmes.

He emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts to nurture sporting talent and provide an environment that enables athletes to succeed and elevate Kuwait’s presence in regional and international competitions.

The meeting reviewed several future initiatives aimed at advancing the handball system, including opportunities for Kuwait to host continental championships and expand training and qualification programmes for coaches, administrators, and referees in line with modern standards of the sport.

Al-Jalahma added that Kuwait has the infrastructure and capabilities required to host major Asian sporting events, noting that upcoming efforts will focus on broadening cooperation with the Asian Handball Federation to develop the sport, refine national talent, and strengthen Kuwait’s position on the Asian sporting map.

For his part, Dhiyab praised Kuwait’s continued support for sport and commended its efforts in developing sports infrastructure and encouraging youth participation.

He affirmed that cooperation and coordination will continue in the next phase to further develop Asian handball and enhance the sport’s standing across the region.
