WASHINGTON, Sept 29:  The Director-General of Kuwait’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Sheikh Humoud Mubarak Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, reaffirmed Kuwait’s firm commitment to expanding its network of international aviation agreements and strengthening global cooperation in civil aviation.

His remarks came following a series of high-level meetings held on the sidelines of the 42nd General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal, Canada, where Sheikh Humoud is heading the Kuwaiti delegation.

In an official statement released by the CAA and obtained by Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Sheikh Humoud underscored that Kuwait’s efforts aim to serve the mutual interests of all stakeholders in the international aviation sector.

As part of its diplomatic outreach, the Kuwaiti delegation held a bilateral meeting with the Japanese delegation, focusing on enhancing operational collaboration and updating the existing memorandum of understanding between the two countries.

The delegation also met with representatives from South Korea, during which both parties agreed to encourage affiliated airlines to launch direct flight routes between Kuwait and South Korea. The initiative is expected to enhance trade exchange, foster closer ties, and address current market demand for direct air links.

The statement further highlighted that ICAO recently honored the State of Kuwait for notable advancements in its civil aviation security oversight systems and for improving its compliance with ICAO’s international standards and recommended practices.

The 42nd ICAO Assembly, which runs from September 23 to October 3, has drawn wide participation from member states and international aviation bodies. The event serves as a platform for global discussions on aviation safety, security, sustainability, and connectivity.

Kuwait’s active engagement at the Assembly reflects its strategic vision to elevate its global aviation profile, strengthen its partnerships, and ensure alignment with evolving international best practices in the civil aviation sector.
