KUWAIT CITY, Sep 4: As part of its ongoing security operations, the Ministry of Interior—represented by the Private Security Affairs Sector and Correctional Institutions—successfully apprehended a convicted fugitive wanted for drug trafficking. The Criminal Judgments Execution Department arrested Khaled Saleh Matroud Al-Shammari, an Iraqi national, who had been sentenced to 15 years in prison with hard labor for possessing narcotics with the intent to traffic.
Through investigation and surveillance, authorities located the convict in the Equestrian Stables area of Jahra Governorate. A specialized security force was immediately dispatched to the site. While under surveillance in his vehicle, the fugitive attempted to escape by ramming several patrol cars, despite the force having secured all entrances and exits. The officers managed to subdue and arrest him without any injuries to the security personnel. The accused was transferred to Taima Police Station for case registration and subsequently handed over to the Criminal Judgments Execution Department. He will be moved to the Central Prison to serve the court-issued sentence. The Ministry of Interior reiterated its commitment to relentlessly pursue fugitives and enforce judicial rulings without leniency, ensuring justice and the rule of law.
