Kuwait Security and Traffic Campaigns Lead to Over 20,000 Violations and Hundreds of Arrests

KUWAIT CITY, Jun 9: Kuwait’s security and traffic authorities carried out wide-ranging field campaigns over the past days, resulting in more than 20,000 traffic violations, hundreds of arrests, and the handling of over a thousand accidents and reports, according to official statistics.

The General Directorate of Emergency Police and the General Directorate of Traffic intensified operations between late May and early June 2026, targeting traffic discipline, public safety violations, and wanted individuals.

Emergency Police campaigns from May 31 to June 6 led to 1,173 traffic violations, the arrest and referral of 21 individuals, and the seizure of 12 wanted vehicles. Authorities also arrested 5 residency violators, 9 individuals without official identification, and referred 15 suspects to the General Directorate of Drug Control. One individual was detained in an abnormal state, while four vehicles were impounded for serious violations. Emergency units also responded to 144 traffic accident reports.

In parallel, the General Directorate of Traffic conducted intensive operations from June 4 to 7, issuing 19,788 traffic citations and processing 2,775 traffic reports.

During the same period, traffic officers apprehended 40 wanted individuals, 76 residency law violators, and 17 wanted vehicles, in addition to detaining 23 individuals pending investigation for serious violations. 13 juveniles were referred to the Juvenile Prosecution, and one person was arrested while in an abnormal state.

Authorities also recorded 986 traffic accidents, including 178 collisions resulting in varying injuries, while 251 vehicles and 40 motorcycles were impounded for violations requiring legal action.

Officials said the campaigns are part of ongoing efforts to enhance road safety, enforce traffic laws, and maintain public order across the country.
