KUWAIT CITY, Aug 20: The Ministry of Health (MoH) continued its efforts to prevent the spread of mpox by securing vaccines and implementing precautionary measures as travelers return at the end of the summer holiday. Informed health sources revealed to Al-Seyassah that health zone directors met yesterday with heads of preventive health and public health centers to assess the readiness of these centers to handle any potential cases.

The sources confirmed that the Ministry of Health has secured hundreds of mpox vaccine doses, which are stored in medical warehouses in case of any future outbreaks. These vaccines will be administered only to those who show the mildest of symptoms. The sources also noted that the mpox vaccines are similar to COVID-19 vaccines in that they require specialized refrigeration. Therefore, they are stored in special medical warehouse coolers rather than the standard preventive health refrigerators used for routine vaccines. The medical warehouses will distribute the vaccines to health zones as needed.
