KUWAIT CITY, Oct 31: Several schools in different educational districts have issued circulars warning parents against allowing their children to bring or possess smoking materials or related tools inside school premises, describing such conduct as a behavioral violation punishable under Ministry of Education regulations.
An educational source told Al-Anbaa that the circulars were issued as part of school administrations’ efforts to protect students and maintain a safe and disciplined learning environment.
The circulars urged parents to closely monitor their children and ensure they do not bring cigarettes or other smoking-related materials and tools to school.
The source said some schools had specifically classified possession of smoking materials as a serious behavioral violation under the student conduct regulations approved by the Ministry of Education.
According to the circulars, students found possessing such materials may face a three-day suspension from school. The suspension period will also be recorded as unjustified absence, the source added.
If the violation is repeated and a student again brings smoking materials to school, the case will be escalated as a serious violation, with further action taken in accordance with the applicable regulations and decisions of the competent authorities.
The source stressed that school administrations are also focusing on raising students’ awareness of the health and educational consequences of smoking-related behavior, alongside disciplinary measures.
Parents were urged to cooperate with schools, monitor their children’s conduct and ensure they comply with school rules and regulations.
The source said the measures are intended to safeguard students, prevent undesirable behavior and strengthen cooperation between families and educational institutions in maintaining a safe school environment.
