Kuwait School Swimmers Make Waves in Cairo with Bronze Wins

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 21:  The Kuwaiti school students’ swimming team clinched two bronze medals on Tuesday at the Arab School Sports Championship in Cairo, bringing their total medal count to six. On the second day of the competition, Hassan Tariq secured a bronze in the 200-meter freestyle, while Jassim Al-Tahhou claimed bronze in the 200-meter relay. On the opening day, the team had a successful start, securing one silver and three bronze medals. Swimmer Hussein Ahmed set a new competition record of 1.01 minutes in the 100-meter freestyle.

Coach Salman Mandani expressed confidence in the team’s capabilities, emphasizing the strength of the competition as it marked the team’s debut in foreign contests. He anticipated more medals on the third day of the tournament and highlighted that the experience gained in these competitions will contribute to the swimmers’ growth and performance excellence, paving the way for future successes. Mandani looks forward to the team’s continued improvement and achievements on the podium.

Faisal Al-Maqseed, President of the Kuwaiti School Sports Federation and head of the Kuwaiti delegation, commended the Blue Team’s performance and praised the tournament for enhancing players’ skills and fostering camaraderie with other Arab teams. He expressed delight in contributing to the success of this Arab youth demonstration in Egypt, emphasizing the importance of strengthening bonds, brotherhood, and cohesion among Arab youth. Anticipating development through match meetings, swimming, and close interaction with players from other teams, Al-Maqseed wished success for the participating Kuwaiti teams in football and swimming, extending his hopes for progress, prosperity, and success in future Arab championships. Kuwait’s participation in the ongoing sports games in Cairo, alongside nine other Arab countries, includes a student football team and a boys swimming team. The competition is set to continue until November 27th.
