Kuwait’s aquathlon team prepares for the opening event.

SANYA, April 23: Kuwait’s national jiu-jitsu team begins its journey today at the 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya, which runs until April 30.

Fahad Al-Marzouqi kicks off Kuwait’s participation with a challenging Round of 32 bouts in the 77kg category against an opponent from the Philippines, as he targets a strong run into the latter stages of the competition.

In the 69kg category, Yusuf Al-Dousari also opens his campaign in the Round of 32, facing a fighter from Singapore. The jiu-jitsu events get underway at 4 a.m., with Al-Dousari aiming to make a strong impact in a highly competitive field featuring some of Asia’s best athletes.

In sailing, Kuwait continues its participation with renewed ambition, as the second race of the Optimist junior class begins at 6 a.m. Sailors Zakaria Bouhamad and Abdulaziz Al-Mansour will look to improve their points and standings.

The ILCA4 trio of Ali Anki, Hamad Al-Masoud, and Sara Al-Ajmi return to action, aiming to climb the overall rankings amid intense competition.

Meanwhile, Kuwait’s aquathlon athletes Abdulaziz Al-Huwaidi and Mohammed Bukhalaf have completed their Asian campaign after a demanding endurance test combining swimming and running.

Al-Huwaidi finished 26th, with Bukhalaf placing 27th out of 40 competitors, in a field featuring some of the continent’s top endurance athletes.
