KUWAIT CITY, Nov 8: The Kuwaiti national shooting team emerged victorious at the Asian Shooting Championship, which concluded at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex. The team captured two gold medals on the final day, bringing their overall tally to 7 medals — 4 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze — sweeping all gold medals in the tournament.
On the closing day, Abdulaziz Al-Mandeel secured the men’s skeet gold, finishing ahead of Pakistan’s Usman Chand, who won silver, and fellow Kuwaiti Ammar Haroun, who took bronze. In the women’s skeet event, Iman Al-Shammakh continued Kuwait’s stellar performance by claiming gold, while Qatar’s Sarah Mohammed earned silver and Kazakhstan’s Adel Sadakbaeva took bronze.
Engineer Duai Al-Otaibi, Chairman of the Organising Committee and President of both the Kuwaiti and Arab Shooting Federations, dedicated this remarkable achievement to His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, on behalf of all Kuwaiti shooting athletes, extending his prayers for the Amir’s continued health and well-being.
Al-Otaibi affirmed that the Kuwait Shooting Federation will continue its mission to achieve further successes in upcoming competitions, under the patronage of His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, as well as with the support of the Kuwaiti government.
He highlighted the importance of the 2025 championship, describing it as a key preparatory stage for Kuwaiti shooters ahead of the qualifying tournaments for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. The team’s impressive results this year, he said, reflect the federation’s effective strategy in preparing athletes for Olympic-level competition.
Al-Otaibi also expressed his appreciation to the Minister of Information, Culture, and the State Minister for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, for his ongoing support of the Kuwaiti shooting. He commended the Public Authority for Sports and all relevant government bodies for their contributions in providing the facilities and logistical support that ensured the championship’s success.
Finally, he praised the efforts of the organizing committee and technical officials, noting that their dedication was key to delivering a flawless and memorable tournament.
