Kuwait riders win six medals at the Regional Special Olympics Equestrian Championship

AL AIN, Aug 28: Kuwait’s Al-Tomooh Club riders wrapped up their campaign at the inaugural Regional Special Olympics Equestrian Championship for the Middle East and North Africa, held in Al Ain, UAE, with an impressive haul of six medals.

On the final day of competition, in the Trail and Control event, Basmah Al-Busaili clinched gold, while Maryam Thiyab secured a second gold for Kuwait. Abdullah Al-Ali added a bronze, bringing the nation’s overall tally to three gold, one silver, and two bronze medals.

Secretary General of Al-Tomooh Club and head of the Kuwaiti delegation, Sadiqa Al-Ansari, expressed pride in the riders’ achievements, noting that the results “reflect their determination and embody the strong support provided by the State for athletes of determination.”

Al-Ansari highlighted that Kuwait’s participation underscored its commitment to integrating athletes with intellectual disabilities and showcasing their talents on regional and international stages. She also praised the UAE Special Olympics for its outstanding organization, ensuring a fair and competitive environment for all participants.

She extended her gratitude to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, for his continued patronage and support of Kuwaiti athletes. Al-Ansari also thanked the Kuwait Embassy in the UAE, the Public Authority for Youth and Sports, the organizing committee, and the riders’ coaches for their vital roles in making the achievement possible.
