Kuwait revokes license of Iranian private school, orders closure before new academic year

KUWAIT CITY, Aug. 6: Kuwait's Ministry of Education has revoked the educational license of the Iranian Private School and ordered its closure, directing the institution to stop accepting new students from the 2026/2027 academic year and requiring parents to transfer their children to other schools before the new term begins.

The decision was issued by Minister of Education Eng. Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabai and is based on the provisions of laws and regulations governing private education, following reports submitted by the General Administration of Private Education. The ministry said the move was taken in line with legal requirements and what it described as the public interest.

According to the ministry, the ministerial decision cancels the previous renewal of the school's educational license and authorizes the General Administration of Private Education to oversee all implementation procedures. These include formally notifying the school to halt new admissions beginning with the 2026/2027 academic year and informing parents of currently enrolled students to complete transfer procedures before classes resume.

The Ministry of Education urged parents to begin transferring their children as early as possible to ensure they are enrolled in alternative schools before the start of the academic year. It stressed that the transition is intended to safeguard students' educational stability and ensure that their academic progress is not disrupted.

The ministry said the decision forms part of its efforts to enforce the laws and regulations governing Kuwait's private education sector and strengthen compliance with regulatory standards. It added that the objective is to protect the public interest while ensuring that educational institutions operate within the approved legal framework.

The General Administration of Private Education has been tasked with monitoring the implementation of the decision and coordinating with the relevant authorities to facilitate a smooth transfer process for affected students. The ministry emphasized that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure students continue their education without interruption or adverse impact on their academic journey.
