Kuwait revokes citizenship of 30 people — know who they are

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 13: Kuwait has issued two decrees withdrawing Kuwaiti citizenship from six individuals, while the Supreme Committee for Kuwaiti Citizenship Investigation has declared the citizenship of 24 others lost, according to the latest issue of the Official Gazette Kuwait Alyoum published on Thursday, August 13, 2026.

Under Decree No. 128 of 2026, the Kuwaiti citizenship certificates of five individuals were withdrawn. The decree also states that Kuwaiti citizenship is withdrawn from anyone who acquired it through dependency on the holders of those certificates. The five named are
Hussein Ali Hussein Mohsen Al-Ajmi,
Nashmi Mohammed Saleh Maneh Al-Ajmi,
Sagheer Mohammed Saleh Maneh Al-Ajmi,
Saeed Ali Farhan Hawi Al-Shehri
Halila Ali Farhan Hadi Al-Shehri.

A separate Decree No. 129 of 2026 withdrew Kuwaiti citizenship from one individual
Iman Sharif Najm Abdullah Hanyan Al-Shammari.

The decrees were issued on August 11, 2026, based on the Kuwaiti Nationality Law and following proposals by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah and approval by the Council of Ministers.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Committee for Kuwaiti Citizenship Investigation, in Decision No. 14/76 of 2026, declared the citizenship of 24 individuals lost under Article 11 of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law. The decision was issued on August 6, 2026, and takes effect from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

The decrees were issued at Al-Seif Palace on August 11, 2026, following approval by the Council of Ministers and based on the Kuwaiti Nationality Law. The citizenship investigation decision was issued under Article 11 of Amiri Decree No. 15 of 1959 and was approved by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, who also chairs the Supreme Committee for Kuwaiti Citizenship Investigation. All relevant authorities have been instructed to implement the decisions.
