Kuwait Revokes Citizenship of 2,182, Including Dependents

KUWAIT CITY, Apr 13: Kuwait has issued three decrees withdrawing citizenship from a total of 2,182 individuals, according to the official gazette “Kuwait Alyoum.” The decisions also apply to those who had acquired nationality through dependency.

The decrees—Nos. 22, 23, and 24 of 2026—outline the scale of the action. Decree No. 22 orders the withdrawal of citizenship from two individuals, while Decree No. 23 affects 1,104 people and Decree No. 24 targets 1,076 individuals. In all cases, citizenship is also revoked from dependents who obtained it through the primary beneficiaries.

The move comes as part of ongoing efforts by Kuwaiti authorities to review and regulate nationality status in line with updated legal provisions governing citizenship.
