KUWAIT CITY, Aug 12: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry discussed on Wednesday with representatives of shipping companies the impact of the rising costs of transport, shipping, and logistics services on the supply of goods to the country and the stability of local market prices, given the current regional situation. Director of the Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Department Faisal Al-Ansari told KUNA that the meeting discussed the developments related to the Strait of Hormuz, and the impact on maritime navigation and shipping lines, which resulted in increased costs of logistics. He explained that shipping companies are working on alternative shipping routes and lines, including picking up and delivering containers in various GCC countries, and using alternative ports when needed to ensure the continuous fl ow of goods and avoid disruption to supply operations. Al-Ansari pointed out that these mechanisms can reduce delays and cut additional shipping costs to help maintain a stable local market supply (KUNA)
