KUWAIT CITY, June 14: The Public Hygiene and Road Occupancy Department of the Capital Governorate Municipality carried out extensive inspection campaigns during May, resulting in the removal of 384 abandoned and scrap vehicles and the issuance of 427 violations related to public hygiene and unauthorized use of public spaces.
According to Faisal Al-Otaibi, Director of the department, the campaigns are part of ongoing efforts to monitor public hygiene services across all areas under the Capital Municipality branch, ensuring compliance with regulations and improving the overall cleanliness and visual appearance of the governorate.
Al-Otaibi said the inspection teams also released 190 vehicles during the same period after necessary procedures were completed. In addition, authorities placed 5,059 warning stickers on abandoned vehicles and boats, giving owners a notice period before final removal.
He noted that the campaigns also include monitoring cleaning contractors, supervising public hygiene companies, and controlling street vendors, in addition to enforcing laws and regulations related to road occupancy and public cleanliness.
The department emphasized that the objective of the field operations is to remove obstacles from roads and public spaces, eliminate abandoned vehicles and scrap materials, and preserve the aesthetic appearance of residential and commercial areas.
Al-Otaibi stressed that supervisory teams will continue intensive field inspections and warned that authorities will not hesitate to take legal action against violators of public hygiene and road occupancy regulations.
The department reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a clean and organized urban environment while continuing enforcement actions against practices that negatively affect public spaces.
