Expected yet "not alarming": MoH
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 21: Kuwait's Ministry of Health has officially stated that the "JN.1" variant of the coronavirus has not been detected in Kuwait. The genetic examination teams are actively engaged in monitoring the prevalent patterns of the coronavirus and other viruses. This announcement comes in light of reports from various countries around the world regarding the identification of this particular variant.
The ministry emphasized that the emergence of new variants is an anticipated occurrence and should not raise undue concern, as mutations are inherent characteristics of viruses. The ongoing efforts of the genetic examination teams are crucial in staying vigilant and informed about the evolving nature of the virus.
To address the evolving situation, the Ministry continues to provide the latest version of the COVID-19 vaccine at 42 preventive health centers across Kuwait. This updated vaccine is designed to cover all prevalent strains of the virus. The ministry strongly advises individuals, particularly those in high-risk categories such as those over 60 years old and adults with chronic diseases or immunodeficiency conditions, to receive the vaccine as a preventive measure.
